Camarilla currently holds the Leverhulme Junior Chamber Music Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music, having played chamber music together since they began studies there in 1998. Individual members have performed extensively in the UK and internationally, working with Sir Elton John, Bombay Chamber Orchestra, Royal Opera House and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra amongst others. The ensemble enjoys a programme of varied engagements from recitals to workshops, and has been coached by such eminent musicians as Sir Colin Davis, Sebastien Bell and Matthew Souter. Past performances include recitals for the Pinner Festival under the auspices of Young Concert Artists Trust, CHIKS charity at Frensham Heights in Surrey, St David's Hall, Millennium Centre and St Martin in the Fields.
With a broad repertoire, Camarilla particularly specialises in lesser-known works by British Composers, incorporating these alongside mainstream repertoire. This has let to a successful series of concerts for the RAM club, celebrating the music of Sir Arnold Bax, and the commission of a new work by Karl Jenkins performed with harpist Catrin Finch at their Fellowship launch concert in the Warehouse Studios last year.
