Camarilla Ensemble is an award winning and distinguished chamber music group, renowned for its vibrant and distinctive performances.  The group comprises five outstanding wind players, and has firmly established itself on the UK music scene since its formation in 2001.

After being awarded a Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellowship for two years at the Royal Academy of Music, Camarilla has gone on to make many festival appearances, including the Edinburgh Festival, Bryn Terfel’s Faenol Festival in Wales and Musique Cordiales in Seillans, France. In 2009, the ensemble won first prize in the Royal Overseas League Chamber Music Competition and has since performed in many of the UK’s leading concert venues such as London’s Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. Martin in the Fields and St. David’s Hall, Cardiff.

More recently, Camarilla Ensemble held the position of Artist-in-Residence at the Purcell School of Music and was accepted into the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust, which promotes and subsidises chamber music concerts to young people.

Camarilla is passionate about education and outreach work, having performed with organisations such as Live Music Now, the London Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra ‘discovering music’ programmes. With a fresh and engaging approach, the ensemble has delivered energetic and inspiring workshops from the slums of India to schools and community centres across the UK.
